Taking The Bad With The Good

With the good, you must take the bad. The good was that the Verizon IndyCar Series got the 2018 season underway in strong fashion this past weekend. The bad? With the start of the IndyCar season comes another edition of One Take Only.

For those that don’t know, One Take Only is the videoblog of Oilpressure.com. It is essentially myself and longtime friend John McLallen basically doing some bench racing. The production value is so low that it’s comical. He and I start the one camera rolling and we just start talking. We have no outline and no script. We don’t ever plan what we are going to talk about. What you see is what we got in one take, hence the name.

Some people love these, while some (including some of my own family members) hate them. But I get enough tweets and emails asking for more, so somebody likes them. We average one of these about once every three or four months in the offseason, while the season and the Month of May in particular makes these appear more often. Some have compared these to two old friends talking in a sports bar. Others have compared them to…well, I won’t get into that.

In this episode, we discuss the opening race at St. Petersburg. We spend a great deal of time discussing our differing opinions on the Wickens-Rossi incident near the end of the race. So pour yourself a cup of coffee and listen while you do some work. If this isn’t your cup of tea, check back Friday.

    Dueling pullovers!

  2. Well, blogity, blogity, blogity. Here we go again. If this was indeed like two old friends talking in a sports bar, there would be beer involved and the conversation would be lively. If there was beer involved here the conversation might be lively. We can only hope.

Great episode guys, that’s the only civilized discussion about the St. Pete incident I’ve seen all week!

  4. Hello, I suggest you to change the One Take Only format.

Instead of a 20-minute show, split it in four thematic segments of 5 minutes each.

Do it with a timer, so each segment doesn’t get too long.
