Another Blight On The Month Of May

You probably thought that you would be spared a second episode of One Take Only for the Month of May, but here it is. This site gets a ton of more traffic in May than at any other time of the year, so I’ll explain (one more time) what this is all about. My good friend, John McLallen, and I occasionally sit down in my back yard, run the camera and start talking IndyCar racing. There is no script and no outline. We don’t rehearse nor is anything edited out. We talk for about fifteen or twenty minutes. What we get is what you see.

John and I have known each other for several years, but for the first two years – neither of us had any idea that the other was an IndyCar fan. For the past seven years, we have been co-workers – so we get plenty of time at work to do some bench-racing. Although we are good friends, we have some fairly healthy banter between us. We tone it down here, because we like to think this is a family show – but our co-workers sometimes think we hate each other.

In this episode, we discuss Qualifying Weekend and of course discuss Sunday’s upcoming race along with our picks.

Some people love these things and others…not so much. If you’re new here, give it a try. We do these about every six weeks or so. Previous episodes are archived to the right of this page under the One Take Only page, if you’re really into torture. Consider it a video podcast that you can play while sitting at your desk. You don’t really need to see it. The scenery never changes. So pour a cup of coffee and sit a while with us. It’s the Thursday before the Indianapolis 500 – you’re not going to get any work done today, anyway.

  1. Good stuff guys, Stefan Wilson is a good choice for a future ride and it was great of him to step aside for the sport, but I also think a lot of people have elevated him to a new level just because Justin passed, not sold on him being the greatest driver without a ride.

Speaking of passing, I haven’t heard much about Bryan Clauson this year, was thinking they may mention him Sunday at least, he would have been in a ride this year I am sure.

It seemed to me that qualifying position was based on the time of day you ran. If you ran at 1PM you were last. If you ran at 6PM you got pole.

The race is gonna be a total crap shoot and I only wish I could be there.

    Have Fun!

Hey George- I think it is actually (according to Davey Hamilton) the left rear that bites and drives the car straight and the front wheels are leading the car straight to the wall.

  4. Great “show” gentleman! Wish you would do one after each race. Godspeed this weekend! I was pulling for Bourdais but now think hometown driver Ed Carpenter pulls into victory lane.
