A Sour Start To The IndyCar Season
With last weekend’s Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, came a lot of euphoria. There were smiles everywhere as Sébastien Bourdais, Dale Coyne and Honda all came away with big wins. It was a great way to start the new Verizon IndyCar Series season.
In the midst of that silver lining, there must be a dark cloud somewhere. By coming here today, you just found it – the latest episode of One Take Only.
Most know, but for those that don’t – One take Only is the videoblog of Oilpressure.com. My longtime friend, best man at my wedding and one of the few IndyCar fans in the Nashville area John McLallen and I get together on here and just talk racing. What some like (and others hate) is that we don’t prepare or rehearse. Not only is the dialogue unrehearsed, it is unscripted and unedited. We start the camera and start talking, and we do it in one take – hence the name.
This time we talked too long – well, John did anyway. I had not cleaned out the memory on the camera and I knew we had “x-amount” of space to do one more of these. I was watching the time and trying to hurry John along to wrap it up. Unfortunately, the red light on the camera went out just as we were wrapping up. Oops!
This episode was recorded on Monday – a cold and rainy day in Nashville. So rainy, in fact – we were chased onto the covered patio instead of our usual outdoor spot. Still we were able to have a good discussion on Sunday’s race and get in some good conversation about the season in general.
As I always say, some love these while others absolutely despise them. If you fall in the latter category, come back Friday. If you like these, start it up and have a cup of coffee with us as we do some bench racing.
