Good Afternoon From IMS
After an uneventful drive, we ae now comfortably ensconced into our customary seats in the IMS Media Center. We were only forty minutes late from when I wanted to leave. Comparatively speaking, that’s not too bad. There was more construction on I-65 in Indiana than I was expecting, but there were no real delays.
We got to our hotel around 12:30 and dropped our stuff off, before heading to the track. We had to go to the administration building just off of Turn One, to get Susan’s credential and our parking pass. That took a while as it was much busier than usual. We finally made it up here just after 2:00 EDT.
Currently, the Mazda Pro Race 1 is taking place. From what I could see of the crowd, it is pretty good for a Friday of the Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis. If this holds for the cool weather expected for tomorrow, I would think IMS officials should be happy.
We got a look at the new gate and plaza off of Turn One. We have also seen the new Penthouse seating across the track and the new raised roof. We’ll walk around in a bit and get a closer look. IndCar qualifying starts in a bit, so that will do it for now. Check back here later this afternoon. In the meantime, be sure and follow me (@Oilpressureblog) and Susan (@MrsOilpressure) on Twitter for photos.
