Good Morning From NOLA
Good morning from a muggy and sticky NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, Louisiana. It was raining when we got up this morning, but it is currently dry…for the moment. The forecast for today actually looks better than it has for the past few days. The trade-off for that? Tomorrow’s looks worse – far worse.
We are staying very close to the track in Marerro. It’s not the swankiest part of town, but for this even – you can’t beat the location. We are less than five miles from the track. Since we didn’t leave here until after 8:00 last night, we didn’t feel like heading all the way back into New Orleans, so we stopped at a little local spot on the way back to our hotel. Susan got a shrimp po-boy, while I had crawfish pasta. We split an appetizer of crab cakes topped with a spicy cream sauce with crawfish. It was all very good, but tonight we’re going for the real (read:tourist) stuff.
This morning, they had US F2000 qualifying. Pro Mazda qualifying is about to get underway. The Verizon IndyCar Series practice will be at 12:30 local time and Qualifying will take place at 4:15.
Since we got here so late yesterday, we never got a chance to explore much of the grounds, so we’re going to go roam about.
