It’s Time To Go Racing!
After the IZOD IndyCar Series morning warm-up got underway, a few of us went to the Barber Museum. Although I’ve been coming here since the IndyCar test in 2009, I had never been to the museum. All I can say is “Wow!”. I will do a post about it later this week with plenty of pictures.
From the top floor of the museum, I was able to get some good pictures of the cars going through the turn. I also got a good shot of Ed carpenter’s disabled car. The Holmatro Safety Team could not get him refired and he had to be towed back to the pits, bringing a premature end to the final practice session.
The shortened session produced a few new names at the top of the score sheet. Charlie Kimball posted the fastest time, followed by Josef Newgarden, Tony Kanaan and Scott Dixon. Simona de Silvestro rounded out the Top Five. Pole sitter Ryan Hunter-Reay was eighteenth, followed by Will Power in nineteenth. AJ Allmendinger posted a respectable twelfth best time for the morning.
We’re now just a little more than an hour from the race. We’re headed to the paddock, the pits and (hopefully) the grid. Then we’ll head to the top of Turn Two to watch the majority of the race from there. I’ll be back at some point this afternoon after everything has concluded.
Enjoy the race!
