Merry Christmas From Mr. & Mrs. Oilpressure
In some ways, it seems like the last race of the 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series was a couple of years ago. Other times, it seems like it ran last week. In reality, it was just a little more than three months ago when the last lap of competition was turned. A lot has happened off the track since then – too much, in fact. The first part of the offseason should be about what driver will land where for next season or which team might swap engine manufacturers. Instead, what little movement there has been on those fronts, has been overshadowed by the ugly politics that seem to always be way too prevalent in this sport.
Fortunately, all of that talk has been set aside – until after the new year, at least. The owners, the drivers and the powers that be at 16th and Georgetown seem to have taken a few days off for the Christmas break. I will do the same as well.
But first, Susan and I would like to take a moment to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. It’ll be hard for us to ever top the thrill of getting married at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this past May, but we’re looking forward to our first Christmas together. We want to thank everyone who posted such nice things here when we were married.
We will be traveling over the Christmas break and I will, therefore, be taking a break from the keyboard. There will be no posts here over the week of Christmas. I will return here on Wednesday, January 2nd to kick off the second half of the offseason. Hopefully, it’ll involve more driver movement and new sponsor announcements rather than the latest speculation about who is running the sport.
Until then – Susan and I, along with my good friend John McLallen from the One Take Only videos, wish each and every one of you a very safe and Merry Christmas as well as a prosperous and Happy New Year! We’ll see you in 2013.

Santa is giving me 4 tickets to the 2013 Indianapolis 500 in section A. 1913 was the year my grandfather crewed for Jules Goux, so it’s fitting that his grandson and great grandson are in attendence 100 years later!!
All the best, be safe and I will see you in 2013!!!!

In the morning children everywhere will be grateful that Santa chose reindeer over a Lotus.
