I am a VERY diehard fan of the Atlanta Falcons so it is extremely hard for me to pull for the 49ers but I will because : 1) I hate Ray Lewis, and 2) I don't like the Tatts either. He seems like a good kid but I don't want my QB to look like an ex-con.

I'm torn. As a Bengals fan, I have no love of the 49ers. And I want to support the ex-brownies just to watch cleveland react to their old team winning a second superbowl.

On the other hand, politics and political correctness has invaded the superbowl with one raven player promoting "gay" marriage while a 49er player is forced to apologize for saying he was not wild about the thought of having homosexuals on the team.

So in the end I've decided to boycott this superbowl and look forward to the glorious month of May in Indy.

Because it is in my nature to always wager a little sumpin' sumpin' on the Super Bowl, I give it to you like this: Based on the playoff performances, I think the line (SF -3 1/2) is upside down. If the Niners fall behind the way they did with ATL, there won't be much chance for a comeback. I just think the Ravens defense, particularly coming off a beatdown of the Pats, (my LEAST favorite team in the NFL), is that much better. I have to admit, Flacco's propensity to complete the deep pass to Boldin which he did with impunity against both the Colts and the Broncos, has surprised me.

I also figure there's a mistake coming somewhere for young Mr. Kaepernick. He had one against Green Bay, but the Packers' defense was so awful that he was able to make up for it quickly. Consequently, I am placing my sheckles on the Ravens with the 3 1/2 points, (and a little bonus bet on the Ravens to win the game straight up on the "money" line. )

Doesn't mean I LIKE the Ravens, far from it! I too have wondered how Ray Lewis has turned into Mr. High And Mighty after his escapades in Atlanta, I like JIM Harbaugh (former Bears and Colts qb) better than JOHN, and the Ravens did put an end to my Colts unlikely season. But, when it comes to the wager, I have to take emotion out of the play (or I have a tendency to get CRUSHED, as happened the other night with my Purdue Boilermakers against Indiana.)

Oh, and one more thing: The eerily accurate EA Sports Madden simulation of the game went to the Ravens by 3. First time I hit on this little phenomenon, I made a killing by betting the Pats against the heavily favored Rams. The sim game has roughly an 80% accuracy rate over the time that it has been "played." Notably, two of the more prominent failures of this were the two Giants wins over the Pats in recent years. As any gambler will tell you, 80% gets pretty close to that "mortal lock" territory. So, I'm just going to swallow hard and play the Ravens.
