I have brought at least one person (usually 3 or 4) who had never been to a race or was just a casual fan to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May for the last 10 years. Bronze Badges and all the trimmings. Not one of them said that the cars are ugly. Not one. The first thing out of their mouth always was this is cool. The second thing usually was who is that driver walking by or whose car is that. The problem isnt the cars. Get over it diehards! We are not who IndyCar needs. The sport needs new fans. Young fans.

I disagree. The examples you mention were when there were several different designs on track. When you have identical cars and they are all identically ugly (as these are) - it takes away from the series. Yes, racing ability is very important. But so is marketability. It would help if the new car was sexy instead of having a wide ass.

How come no one asks what's in the glass? Is it really something you want a full glass of? Perhaps its something fizzy that would bubble over and make a mess if the glass were full. If it were something you loved to drink, would you care if the glass had an ugly design about it? Is the mouth of the glass large enough that everyone gets a sip w/o sharing each others kooties? Perhaps the glass is tapered and looks fuller than it is. How would the story change if it was a mug not a glass? Perhaps even a stein, with a peuter lid on top to keep the bugs out. If the glass were a half pint and it was half full doesnt that only make it a quarter full?

I must go read more Paul Tracy tweets and contenmplate on the subject more.

Always looking forward to a new season. Just received my "Bronze" badge apps , have completed and returned.
I agree with just about all of that, George. I want Bernard to hurry up and get the small teams a fair deal on some engines. (Maybe take them down to the museum and say "take your pick" just for fun?) And I'm curious what the "state of Indycar" announcements will be on the 14th (I think the 14th.) I like the new car (even the back believe it or not) and I'm anxious to hear it in a pack and see it with some paint.
