Nice article George. I think your right about Servia's abilities. The other positive for D&R will be the fact that Servia has an engineering degree. In 2007, Servia didn't have the chance to test the new Panoz untill he took over Tracy's seat after the season had already started. Really, In his career he has only driven for one good team (Newman Haas) and he finished second (2005) and fourth (2011) in the standings those years. In 2005, he didn't get the seat until the third race of the season and still finished second behind Bourdasis. The other thing people forget was when he drove for KV in 2008 with Will Power and finished ahead of him in the points.

The fact is that Servia is a good solid driver that will bang out top ten's all day long and bring the car back in one piece. Although, the knock on Servia is his inability to finish the deal and win races. I don't know if that is a product of never driving for a team that had the ability of winning or Servia being more conservative. I hope D&R has the engineering staff to compliment Servia and give him a chance to win some races. Either way, I will be rooting for the guy with the coolest helmet in the paddock.

Justin departing DRR in favor of Uncle Dale's Rent-a-Rides hints that DRR wasn't firing on all cylinders.
I am always glad to read that other fans like the 'journeyman' underdogs whom I favor, such as Wilson and Servia, who was
"first in class behind the leaders at Penske/Ganassi – in a car that some questioned would even be on the grid ... [and was] on the front row at Indianapolis."

As happy as I am or Servia landing a ride, I am concerned with DRR. When Justin left Coyne for DRR, I know he must have thought that was an upgrade. However, injuries and bad luck aside, it sure seemed like Wilson had more success at DCR than DRR. I fear this will be a problem for Servia as well. I like Reinbold and Buhl. But, something isn't working at that team. Seeing JW go back to Coyne would support that claim. I know Servia is one of the best in the sport, but I know if he can turn that team around. Here's hoping he can!

Thanks for posting this George. I, too, think that Servia has been vastly overlooked by most teams. Bruno, too. I doubt that DRR will have the coconuts to pull the trigger on such an arrangement but I'd love to see it.

I rarely post comments here or anywhere, but thank you for always making us think.

Even with all the questions, count me excited, too. Servia and Junquiera both proved themselves in CART's waning days, only to be ignored since. I even think Servia looked better and more consistent than every driver on the vaunted Team Penske.

Great signing but the team is terrible. After Wilson's unsuccessful time there, I have to think the problem lies in someone other than the driver.

Nothing against Pippa or Bia, but I'd like to see Paul Tracy in the other car.

Man, there's so much uncertainty right now. To mention just a few--what's the schedule, where's the finale, will Lotus last, where will Sarah and Ed get engines, how will all engines perform, is the chassis getting better, Milwaukee? But it makes the approaching season very interesting to me. And the next couple of months should be fun, let alone the season.
