Season’s Greetings From Oilpressure.com
Well, the Christmas weekend is finally here. So far, UPS hasn’t put one of KV Racing’s old Dallara chassis on my front porch, but I’m still hoping. After much build-up this month including an overload of Christmas music (what else did Johnny Mathis record?) and boiled custard (the southern Christmas beverage of choice – egg nog is for Yankees), it’s time to get ready for the real thing. Of course, by about 1:00 pm on Sunday we’ll already be in the midst of the dullest day of the year – Christmas afternoon, when all of the anticipation is over and the Christmas season ends in a giant thud.
Until then, we’re still in the midst of Christmas merriment. In keeping with the season, John and I offer our Christmas edition of One Take Only. This time, we’re at John’s house complete with Christmas tree and an echo caused by his hardwood floors. We never got the chance to do a November show. We had one scheduled to tape on a Saturday morning, but John slept in and blew it off. With all that goes with busy schedules in December, this was the first time we could get together. For the time being, we’ll continue to do these. The feedback we’ve gotten has been mixed. Some people love the video spots, while others hate them. We enjoy doing them, so if you don’t care for them, simply exercise your right to not watch them. But if you’d like, please click on it below and try to enjoy it.
Shameless Plug: About a week ago, I took part in a blogger’s roundtable discussion over at Racing Mania 101. The panel included yours truly along with our friend Pressdog, Zachary Houghton from IndyCar Advocate and John Oreovicz from ESPN.com. It’s interesting to read the different opinions and answers to the same questions. You can find it here.
This will be the final post here for 2011. I’m off for a few days, so I will take a break from this site as well. I will return here on Wednesday January 4 and discuss whatever the latest news is from the IZOD IndyCar Series. In the meantime, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for reading this site. I assumed that readership had probably leveled off in 2010, but readership and average hits grew quite a bit in 2011. I continue to be amazed and thankful that well-educated and reasonable race fans come here to read my ramblings.
We’ll hit the ground running in 2012 – because there’s going to be a lot ground to cover. I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and a safe and happy holiday season.
