I am a regular reader of George's column and I do not recall him being seriously "crucified" for anything he has written.

As far as getting worked up about "twitter wars" I would suggest that you quit reading all those twitters from twits or whatever the hell they are called. That is about like reading the comments following a Curt Cavin column. That is a descent into a dark place. Most of that stuff is written by people that you would move to the other end of the bar to get away from.

And that is why I like coming here. A vast majority of the comments following Geroge's comumns are on point, well thought out, interesting, and frequently funny. Tweets are mostly just stream of consciousness thoughts and hardly worth one's time.

I believe that IndyCar is going back to Japan this week because of their relationship with Honda and because there is a very passionate IndyCar fanbase in Japan. Anything else positive will be a bonus. I happen to believe that having the race at Motegi this week will be a morale booster for some of the Japanese people. It won't solve their problems, but it will be a nice distraction in much the same sense that NFL football serves to take peoples minds off their problems for a few hours . (except perhaps for Titan fans)

Good one Susan. I have donated and got a fancy t-shirt. I am also not opposed to our great country offerring some financial assistance. That is who we are. I don't know how the race will raise awareness, but I hope it does.

I love motorsports, but if they all went away tomorrow it would not make a whole lot of difference in the grand scheme of things. That goes for all stick and ball sports as well... For many years now many of us have been spending a great deal more time and money sitting on our duffs playing X-BOX, watching sports and Tweeting than we have been taking a hard look at the direction this country is going in (I use the present administration as evidence of that)... When I was a kid in the 60's long before the advent of the internet, the so called information highway, people were better informed and much more civic minded than they are today... I travel a great deal on business and believe me, these days in many parts of the country one can barely get a nod or a hello out anyone never mind get them to come to a school board meeting or vote...
When it comes to natural disasters, here or internationally and our wounded warriors, I try to give genorously whenever possible. I would prefer to help in person, but generally I am too busy working 6-7 days a week trying to keep my job, one of the precious few out there, and to keep my familys head above water....
Nice blog by the way Susan...
