Second what Rick says up there. Mid-Ohio pros: compact layout that allows for walking to several corners, even during a 30 or 45 minute practice session; EXTREMELY knowledgable fans; even Mrs. Speedgeek didn’t hate the place, due to her being able to walk away from the 2 hour and 45 minute ALMS race at about minute 17 to find a tree to read a book under; the best racetrack breakfast just about anywhere: the Egg McTrueman. Cons: um, no hospitality suites (not that I’ve ever been in one, anyway)? The “pros” have it.

I would LIKE Servia, Wilson, or Hinch to win, but I expect that one o’ the Target twins or Verizon’s android to be atop the podium.

Some day I’ll spectate at Mid-Ohio and Road America. Not this year, though. Incidentally, Briscoe lucked into his win at Mid-Ohio, so I’d bet on Will, Dario, or Scott.

I last visited Mid-Ohio in 2005, but assuming the facilities haven’t been updated, well, I guess the bathrooms leave a lot to be desired. Otherwise, I never thought it was that bad. It’s small enough to be able to walk around the track and check out the race from almost every corner during the course of the race, and the paddock is convenient. I once read that it’s “like a beautiful park someone had the good sense to build a race track in,” and I’d agree with that. My now-wife even enjoyed seeing the Champ Car race in ’03, and she’s the farthest from a race fan you’ll find. Bottom line, Mid-Ohio is a great track that’s a lot of fun to go to.
