Met her at the Racing for Cancer fundraiser the week before Indy. “Charming” is the perfect word. We chatted and laughed and she made us feel like we were friends. And then watching her back her fan-friendliness up with that gutsy drive was exciting. I’ve called “shotgun” on the Pippa band wagon.

Look for recipes for macaroni and cheese that contain less than 4 ingredients? Check stock quotes (for stocks that I do not own)? Run mock drafts for fantasy football (for a season that may never happen)? Please. I’d rather spend my 60 minutes reading your post and the comments.

Oh, great post on Pippa, by the way. She’s not likely to post a win or even any top-5s in those 3 runs for RLL this year, but her presence in the Series is certainly welcome for the way that she treats her current fans and how she’s liable to pull in new ones. Welcome back, Pippa.

I think Indycar desparately needs for fans to ‘connect’ with drivers–that is a major impetus for the casual fan to get interested and follow the sport. The fact that she is a woman driver, can only help tweak the media’s interest–another plus for the series. If Simona can get back to form and return to finishing in the top 10–it will help peak interest–and make up for the inevitable void that is going to be created when Danica defects to NASCAR.

I think Rahal must be a business genius; he brought Danica to Indycar, with her first ride; generated great buzz, and now seems to be repeating this iniative–albeit with a driver that has much more appealing personality and demeanor. Go RLL!

The Rahal car is a fantastic opportunity and could be the necessary edge in a crowded rookie field.
