Just like this Auburn tree thing, it was made on purpose, to damage the sport. It’s disgusting.

Great post, though, Susan. A lot of people won’t ever understand the 500 until they’ve attended more than once (thinking of my wife here, who got nothing more out of our 2006 trip than a strong desire to not go back for at least a decade; I blame the heat and the extremely drunk lady who was passing out by lap 30 four seats to our left), and some folks’ll never get it. Their loss.
