I am thankful that I had parents who took me to my 1st Indy 500 in 1960 as a 5 year old.Rathman and Ward battled all day.I got “IT” and have been hooked ever since.Fast forward to 2011,it would be great to fill the ol girl again and place her right where she should be,”The Greatest Spectacle In Racing”.Thanks for a great post George.Race Day can’t come any too soon.

Here’s what I think I’m thankful for, at least in the Indycar world. I’m thankful that–despite the beer-swilling ovalista’s absolutely hating twisty tracks and the tea-sipping twisty supporters hating oval racing–that Indycar is a mixture of both types of racing–and a very difficult test for these drivers. Could the tracks–both oval and twisty–be improved? Absolutely. But I think the 50/50 mixture is something unique to Indycar and will help to define the series as different from Nascar or F1.

I voted for Randy because he is the driving force behind most of the other things, but an all of the above choice would have been nice. i am also thankful for bloggers like you, george. You brighten my day 3 times a week with your posts.
